Shohini Dutta is a dancer, teacher, choreographer, curator and festival director with a passion for bringing diverse arts together. She is the Vice President of The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy & the Founder of Friends of Art , a charitable trust of arts &artists.
Professionally trained in Bharatnatyam, jazz, ballet, contemporary, contact improvisation . She has been in the performing arts as and educator and artist for over 2 decades .
As performer and choreographer she has been part of several national &international project . She choreographed the musical Wizwits at Kingdom of Dreams, Fiddler On The Roof at The Archdiocese of India and has successfully created experimental projects Duet by Three, Chemical Reaction, Danscapes and Songs Of Life. Her latest solo work Homelands: Terra Incognito deals with migration and the notion of self in new age cites. She received a scholarship to France by the French Government for composition of movement and an award for her contribution to dance in 2018 by MP- Shri Vijay Goel.
She has in the film industry since 2004 , part of over 25 films including, Dhoom 1, Jab we Met, Rockstar , Tamasha , No smoking, Bombay velvet, Pyaar ka Punchnama, Guzarish, Highway, Dear Dairy, Laila Majnu, Fry day and has worked on several ad films.
She conceptualised Contemporary Arts Week – a multi venue multi arts city wide festival . The chrysalis project – performance / exhibition residency . She is currently facilitating artistic collaborations between Indian artists and artists from the UK, France, Israel, USA and Japan through her NGO Friends of ART .
