Step 1 : Preparing your base for the Resin Pour

You can use Resin Coat on almost any base you like, we really love the smoothly coated tray we got in the Oak Arts kit.

Start coating the base with a quick coat of gesso, you can coat 2-3 times as per the requirements of your surface, now wait for it to dry completely.

*** you do not need to gesso it incase you are using the stick-on base that is provided in the Oak Arts Kit.

Step 2 : Making the Art Work / Or Sticking the Artwork

You can use Resin Coat on almost any base you like, we really love the smoothly coated tray we got in the Oak Arts kit.

Start coating the base with a quick coat of gesso, you can coat 2-3 times as per the requirements of your surface, now wait for it to dry completely.

Once your Surface is coated and dry, use acrylic paints to make your artwork, you can refer to the tutorial for the artwork that we have made.

*** you do not need to gesso it incase you are using the stick-on base that is provided in the Oak Arts Kit. To follow the stick-on method watch the tutorial right here

Step 3 : How to make a perfect Resin and Hardner Mix?

Please note each brand has different specifications for the mix ratio. Follow the ratio in the manual provided. Some tips out of our experience are here below:

  • The usual ratio for the mix is 1:3
    ( i.e. 1 part of hardener to 3 parts of resin )
  • I usually like to use a 1:1 ratio of the hardener and resin , as this mix dries quicker.
  • Your mix needs to be of a consistent viscosity, the mix will start to heat once the reaction begins, this is the perfect time to start pouring.

You need to experiment with the ratios of your mix the more you experiment the more you will learn about the ratios.

  • check out the video on the right for a very cool ocean effect you can make using inks.

Step 4 : Resin Pour, tips and tricks for resin pouring

I personally recommend to pour the whole mix in one go. That helps in even distribution of the Resin

Step 5 : Resin Pour, drying time and curing of the resin.

Well your resin will take almost 12 hours to dry and approximately 72 hours to cure completely. This varies on the ratio of your mix.
